Tech, politics, sports, and the overuse of ellipses...

I sort of thought this clown had died. Or at least had retreated to a compound where can do his durr durr huntin' in peace. But no.....

Newsone:

Nugent appeared at a show in Dubuque, Iowa, and told the crowd, “There’s a lot of white people in this crowd — I like that! (Dubuque) is a white town.” The Telegraph Herald added that “Nugent also pointed out at least one audience member and questioned his race.” The Iowa-based newspaper also slammed Nugent’s remarks in an editorial, and noted that Nugent has a history of incendiary remarks.

But it's been a busy week for "Nuge":

Dori: Do you believe he’s a Muslim?

Nuge: “You’re damn right I do! He says he’s a Christian so he can continue with his jihad of a America-destroying policies.”

Dori: “So you believe he is a Muslim operative who has, through deceit, gotten amazing power in this nation and this world?”

Nuge: You have stated my position exactly.

Wow. Just wow. Clearly, a speaker at a Glenn Beck 'civil rights' rally, couldn't be at all racist or anti-muslim. I think both of those articles note that Nugent has been a guest on "The Political Cesspool", a white nationalist radio show.

I think that's been the strangest thing of the Obama era. The line between the white power types and the fringe of the conservative movement has become increasingly blurred. Whether it's been the fringe getting more crazy and more prominent (true) or the nationalist types just being smart enough to capitalize on it (probably true as well) there is a combined synergy - at the very least - shared desires on individual issues. This isn't an isolated circumstance -- RSM, that nut from Atlas, some strains of the Tea Party have all had their interactions with various kinds of racist organizations.

Unrelated, but speaking of tools from Michigan, enjoy the textual beheading of KSK Tony Dungy by KSK Rex Ryan.

Another rant.... how quickly we forget (or chose to ignore) quickly statements like those from Jeezy and Jay-Z, at an inauguration ball none the less:

"The rappers shouted from the stage things like F*** Bush, praising the one who threw shoes at him and those who moved him out of the White house. Surprisingly, Jay-Z joined in the elation that his President was a black man, a N*****. Both men repeatedly used the term."

But I'm sure Dan posted his article in strict sense of caring for his fellow man...unless of course they are "hayseeds and illiterates" who are to be ignored. Great article by the master of tolerance...Dan_l!

nugent has always hadda warm place in my heart--for several reasons:

1. ripping off the intro for his cover of 'baby please don't go' note-for-note from my friend, former detroit homeboy and true guitar hero larry carsman.

2. proclaiming he'd fire anyone in his band who smoked pot (don't recall him just saying 'no' when the joint was passed to him while he was driving a friend and i out to the suburbs one evening).

3. hunting and killing bears using more than his bare hands (fair woulda been bare to bear no?)

"We ask black people: it's time. It's time for us to come together. It's time for us to rebuild a New Orleans, the one that should be a chocolate New Orleans. And I don't care what people are saying Uptown or wherever they are. This city will be chocolate at the end of the day."  - Ray Nagin - DEMOCRAT

Save the hypocrisy outrage please.

This isn't an isolated circumstance -- RSM, that nut from Atlas, some strains of the Tea Party have all had their interactions with various kinds of racist organizations.

I can say the same thing about the democrat party, and Obama.

You realize you both are doing the same exact thing you are accusing him. You're pointing fingers, and, quite clearly, saying "So what? You guys do it."

Why not have the balls to just come out and say you disagree, if indeed you do, without an excuses.

I do find it ironic though. Politics has devolved into a game of finger pointing and deflection of any sort of responsibility or blame. It's always, always, "Don't look at my sides flaws, look at his!"

Btw, I think Nugent is full of it. He has the right to give his opinion, sure, but he's full of it.

No just that the hypocrisy exists. If one is to speak out against, well anything, one must ask themselves what is their motivation for doing such. If the answer is to disparage someone you disagree with on other issues, then why not address those issues. If it is to address a specific wrong, then it is probably not a good idea to drag in other, none related events, in an attempt to create some sort of relationship. Re-read the OP and tell me which you believe it is.

What exactly is the accusation I'm making? That it is a rant? That the rappers didn't make those comments? That Dan_l cares for his fellow man? What? What impact does "pointing a finger", as you say, when one is too blind to see outside their own worldview anyway? Doing the same exact thing would be writing an article attacking a performer's actions on the left (You'll notice I didn't interject an opinion, it is a fact, of Jeezy and Jay-Z's actions, people can make up their own minds if it was appropriate or not), then try to tie it to say, Al Sharpton. Facts are not accusations, but your concern is noted.

on Aug 29, 2010

Would you just as willingly and eagerly point out the hypocrisy on your ideological side?

The problem I think American politics has, is that they're too concerned with pointing out and making a scene of,  what the other side does, just to score a point. Why not focus on your group, so that you can get to a point where the hypocrisy is minimal?

Just a thought.

As long as the OP and yourself are in agreement that is.

It's called "opinion". Just like the one you state below. Why should anyone care what you think, if you are unwilling to state why? If I say "you're full of it", what do you think I mean? Content with assumption. I shouldn't be surprised. People went to the polls on the promise of "hope and change", that was all they needed, no need to read the fine print or challenge the hype. Good job.

Btw, I think Nugent is full of it. He has the right to give his opinion, sure, but he's full of it.

I'm sure he is hurt you feel that way, without knowing why. Thank you for you meaningless opinion.

(In order of your comments)

Isn't that the truth.Heh.

Sure, but an opinion without covering all the bases, tends to give credence to false assumptions. Do you or do you not agree with Nugent and his comments?

I'm sure he is; In fact, just a few minutes ago, he called me. He told me "You sir, are a meanie head."

Do I know you? What is "my side" exactly? But of course how would you know, since I haven't seen you before tonight. Nothing political was mentioned in my first comment. George Bush was the devil.... there does that make you happy? You seem to make a lot of assumptions on was said or not said about left and right. However did we get by without moderation such as yours? I would suggest you read....way back, before enlightening the masses with the yin and yang approach.

OT: Maybe you are new to political opinion (a.k.a. an ideological side), but here is kind of how it works. The party in power (that would be the Democrats, both houses since 2007 and White House 2009) is typically under the most scrutiny, since they control the purse strings and make the rules. Now some will complain about the past, because it makes them feel good, but I am unaware of a time machine, so to me that avenue is pointless. Learn from the mistakes and move forward. The present situation does not indicate a lesson learned... now do you still wish to discuss hypocrisy?

Well I don't follow Nugent's every word (did see him in concert about three years ago, loved his PETA comments), but I know he speaks his mind without the PC BS and that I can appreciate. I like some of his songs (what person that enjoys R & R, would not like the guitar solo in "Strangle Hold"). I'm not bothered he hunts, I'd be doing it more if I had chance. I know that doesn't sit well with people that think hamburger comes from Burger King. But, Ted Nugent isn't the reason I commented here to begin with, and I would have passed it by entirely if it didn't contain the authors opinion.

I'm sure he is; In fact, just a few minutes ago, he called me. He told me "You sir, are a meanie head."

Good sense of humor....I like that!

Yea, He has not denied evolution as some (formerly alive) people are want to do.  I guess that is the way that liberals hunt.  And why most of them starve in the wilderness or become bear statistics.

Thanks for the reply; I appreciate it. As for the hamburger comment: You mean it doesn't come from Burger King?

Hey, I try. Not perfect, but I try not to be too serious.

And btw, yeah, you "know" me. Well, to the extent you can know someone on a website.
